Two male cats

I have two male cats who have been living together for a long time.  We need to get rid of them and someone would take one of them.  Would it be O.K to separate them after all this time??

Hi Angela,

Separating them after a long period of time together will cause major stress to the two. Just like you would be if someone you knew was suddenly gone from your life, they will go through a period of loss. If you can, try to keep the two together. Whoever is taking the one should know it is always better to have two cats together. They will be companions to each other when that person isn't there. They lead happier, healthier lives together. It is the same care for one as for two. Good luck.
