Rare Yellow Tabby?

16:15:35

Question
I have a female yellow tabby DML(classic pattern) Someone told me that it is very rare to see a female without white markings - male is the norm.  I never really thought about it but any yellow tabby I previously had contact with was indeed male.  Can't find any concrete info on this and she recently had kittens, 3 female, 2 male - all yellow tabby.  I knew about calico's being female but what about yellow tabbies being male?

Answer
Nancy,

Yellow?  I think what you may have is a cream tabby.  Tabby females in all breeds are relatively common.  The with white (or piebald white) gene is not sex linked, and, thus is independent of gender.  It is also not linked to pattern.

I am sure she is a wonderful cat in her own right, but, rare, no!

Best regards... Norm.
