Question
Our cats has had a single kitten approx. 4 weeks ago. In the past 3 days she has attacked my daughter{ her owner] my husband and myself. There was no reason for these attacks. The cat just went crazy and did some serious damage to my daughters leg, scratching and biting. She then scratched my husbands leg when he tried to leave the room and he had to lock the cat in a room until she was calmer. For no reason the cat attacked my daughter and when I went to her rescue the cat bite my hand open. What could be wrong with our cat, who is usually a very gentle and loving pet? Any help will be very appreciated.  Thank You

Answer
Hi Andrea,

I think your cat is protecting her kitten. For some reason, she feels threatened.  I think you should move her and the kitten to an area in the house where she feel safe, maybe where there is less traffic.  Cats are very protective of their babies.  If she was gentle before the baby, and is now agressive, then that indicates to me that she is just a very protective mother. After the baby is weaned, she probably will go back to her old self.

God Bless,
Becky
