one black paw pad

Question
My cat is 18 yrs old and one front paw pad is now black, it used to be pink.  It is not swollen and does not hurt her and there does not seem to be any infection.

Answer
Ethne,

Any sudden change like this in an older cat should always be assessed by a licensed veterinarian to be sure that there isn't something more serious going on with your kitty. I'd suggest just booking an appointment with your family vet to have him/her check that paw pad and be sure that there isn't something potentially serious like a melanoma or a reduced ability for blood to clot causing bruising going on. If you have any further cat related questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask - I'm more than happy to help in any way that I can.

Kind regards,

Ali
