Cat;s upper mouth/lip is getting dark

Question
Hi. I know you're not a vet, but maybe you have an idea? I recently noticed that my cat's upper mouth or upper lip is getting dark. He looks like he has dark lips, which is new to him. He lets me touch it; it doesn't seem sensitive, but it's definitely a new look for him and I'm concerned. He won't let me look under his lip or see inside his mouth.  He does seem to be eating like normal. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Answer
Hi
sometimes when a cat gets a scratch once it has healed it turns dark in color and stays that way. For instance my cat has now got a dark splodge on her nose and lip from past fights. It is nothing to worry about, it's just like battles scars i suppose.
keep an eye on it to make sure that it doesn't swell of become infected but usually these things just heal themselves.
Best wishes
Kate
