kittys sore-looking anus

Our 5-month old "Happy"  cat seems well in every way but his butt is red and sore looking. I had him neutered last week and his butt was red then and the vet said not to worry about it. I will greatly appreciate your advice.

Hi Madeline,

I would take your kitty to the vet again, it is not normal for him to have a red, sore butt.  If he won't do anything for him, then I would see another vet.  I would tell you to use an antibiotic cream on him, but he probably would just lick it off.  I know they are supposed to check everything, but ask him if his anal glands are ok.  Red and sore is not something to be ignored, especially if it has gone on for days.  Please write again if I can help further.  Hugs, Barb
