moving maine coon

Question
i have a 7yr old male maine coon that is very nervous and we are moving to a new home in a couple weeks. He weighs around 20lbs so trying to get him in a carrier is impossible because he will fight you. Any  suggestions, we were going to get a big box and put some holes in it for air and move him that way.

Thanks

Ernie

Answer
Hi Ernie,

He's a big cat and needs a big cage. Get a large dog carrier. Set it up now with a bed. Feed him in it. He needs to get used to it. You can close the door on him in it when he eats. When he wants out let him. He needs to feel safe and secure in it. You should have no problem with him and the move doing this. And you can also get some of this, (or something like this). Give it to him now to see how he is with it. Then on the day of the trip you can give him it again. It will make the trip much better.

Good luck and take care.
