lactating queen care

our 8 month old(sweety)gave birth last week to 4 kittens and we are feeding her good quality kitten chow(no wheat gluten). Sweety has some areas of rough scabs around her nipples and may be having more than normal discomfort nursing. Is this normal and is there anything we can do to help her?

Congratulations on your new family. For your Sweety, try using a product called Bag Balm. You should be able to get it at any drug store. This will help with her nipples. If she still has problems write back to me and I will be able to help you further. Good luck.
