not sure if my cat is pregnant

Question
Hi Teresa,
I think my cat pregnant but I'm not sure.  She went into heat I guess the middle to end of last month (March), it was her second time going into heat, I'm not sure of her age probably between 9-12 months.  She's an indoor cat but she got out one day, she wasn't gone for very long only overnight.  We noticed that her belly has gotten a little bigger and you can see all of her nipples.  Sometimes it feels like something is moving in her belly if you leave your hand there long enough.  I have read a lot about this online that's why I think she is pregnant but to get to my point, (sorry so longwinded) she has been doing this thing, she will knead the couch and blankets but when she does it she does this weird thing with her rear and she arches her back kinda.  It's kinda freakin me out because I don't know if she is trying to have them or maybe she is getting ready.  She has been sleeping and eating a lot but she is still playful.  I also have another cat but he is neutered this is a weird question but would he know if she is pregnant because he has been acting kinda weird too.  I have a picture of her laying on her side I don't know how much it will help but you can clearly see her nipples.  Please help if you can.  Thank you for your time.

Answer
hi Linda, thank you for the question. My first instinct is to tell you that YES your cat is pregnant. Any cat loose outside for more than 2 minutes when they are in heat is usually pregnant or at least bred.
One of the signs of pregnancy is that her nipples will go pink and start sticking out a bit more. Also the mom cats will usually get very affectionate and start eating more. You may also notice that she had a bit of morning sickness a few weeks ago? It takes 9 weeks gestation for a cat so if she was bred at the end of march then she is going to be due about the end of May. When she is close to being due you will have NO doubts that she is pregnant! you will see the kittens moving in her belly from across the room! So, it sounds like she is about 6 weeks along right now?? This is the point where she will be eating quite a bit and if you are very patient you can feel the kittens moving a bit. So, I would mark off 3 weeks from now to expect her in labour. I am not sure what you mean by her doing a weird thing with her rear? Is it the position that she was taking when she was in heat? Crouching ? If it is then it is possible she has miscarried or missed getting pregnant and she is coming back into heat????!!!
Let me know more details ! teresa
