I hate to make this so short but am really pressed for time.  I like to answer questions as soon as possible though because I hate makeing people wait for a response.  In a nutshell, I'm a major supporter of the truly premium foods, which Science Diet, Eukanuba, etc. are NOT.  I have 4 cats and am personally aware of 40+ cats who were switched to all natural, by-product free foods (the truly premium ones), and totally raw diets.  Every one of those cats has shown a major improvement in as little as two weeks...their coats become shinier, there is less shedding, constipation and diarrhea problems clear up, allergies completely go away, cat's no longer vomit for no apparent reason, etc.  I think you will be surprised by the results.  As a general rule, only feed twice per day but you can give a few treat in between feedings.  Cats, as all carnivores, are not meant to graze all day but to eat fewer large meals...this also prevents obesity.  Their intestinal tract is also not designed to process only dry kibble and most cats do wonderfully well on mostly canned or raw.  You are an excellent pet owner in that you are concerned about how much to feed and how often to feed, while your cat is still at a young age.  Most people just assume that it's okay to leave dry kibble or canned out and then the cat suffers the consequences of obesity, diabetes, etc. later in life.  And sadly, the public is so kept in the dark about the standards of the pet food industry and the true ingredients of commercial foods that most pets never have a proper diet their entire lives.  I hope this information helps you.  If you have any further questions at all, please just reply back to this message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.  Good luck with your cat and his diet...and being an angora I'm sure that he's gorgeous. :-)
