Question
I have two indoor cats, 5 %26 6 years old.  Both cats weight about 12-14 lbs.each.  The vet recommended I get them both down to about 10lbs.  I was feeding them a combination of wet and dry food (1/6 of a 5.5 oz can of Iams and 1/4 cup Blue Wilderness high protein low carb dry) at each meal.  I thought this was pretty healthy.  Since one cat prefers moist and the other dry, they would share food and the cat that ate two helpings of the dry started to gain so much weight!  After extensive reading, I want to put them primarily on a wet food diet.  I switched their moist to Wellness grain-free and their dry to Natural Balance reduced calorie.  I'm giving each cat about 3 oz. of moist in the morning and for dinner 3 oz. moist plus 1/4 cup dry.  Is this a sufficient amount to help them lose weight?  They seem hungry most of the time but I thought by limiting their dry food to only one meal will help to shed some pounds.  Any advise on portion size or calorie count would help.  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Heidi, Well, the new choices in food look great!  It will take a little time for them to Understand your NEW weight loss program...  I know it must be hard for them!
You may want to offer some Innova or Wellness - dry cat food - just as a little snack...
About 15 bites each cat per day....
