How much to feed a 9 week old kitten as it grows

Question
Hello! We have two adorable nine week old kittens, both rescue kittens. They've been with us for a few weeks, and we'd been feeding them more-or-less as much as they wanted. Usually 4-5 meals of wet food a day, usually around 1oz each per meal. We had to go to the vet for one of them becuase she had some soft stool, and the vet said she was overeatting and to fast for a day, and cut back to two meals a day. However, I've spent a great deal of time researching how much to feed them both online and in a few books (Kittens for Dummies, etc.) and they seem to all recommend a much greater amount of food. On top of this, how much should I escalate how much they eat? Thanks!

Answer
Hi Frank and new kittens!  I would feed the kittens 3 x per day.
2 ounces per feeding -  Also, if they get loose stools give them 1 teaspoon (per day) of pure canned pumpkin - no sugar added...
After about 5 months - 6 months you can feed 2 x per day.

Offer wet canned food daily and have some dry food, too.  Canned WET food will keep the kidneys healthy.

Also, please start them on the NuVET feline Formula per day...
NuVET is an immune system booster and Natural Vitamin - this is Holistic and can't be found in any pet stores:
order here:   http://www.nuvet.com/81098
They only need 1/2 the normal dosage per cat per day.
Tell the NuVET folks that you are working with Pet Nurse Marie and use code *  81098...

Good luck with the kids!
