Question
Hello Marie, I have a question about rotating different foods. I have a cat that adopted us last fall at a very skinny 3 3/4 lbs. at approx. 9 months of age, and she (Midna)is now about 8 lbs. We are dog people so I am new to cats. I started out feeding wellness dry with 1/4 can at night. Then read here that you should primarily feed wet with a little dry so I was giving 1/4 can and scant 1/8 cup dry. Then read that it should just be all wet food so now I am feeding her 1/2 can wellness along with a TBSP of yogurt in the morning and the other 1/2 can of wellness in the evening. I also hear a lot about rotating so your cat doesn't get finicky. Now my question - would the different flavors of wellness be considered rotating or do I need to switch brands. I have access to Pet Smart and Petco and can get felidae but cannot get EVO, Natures Variety, Fromm or Merrick in my area. Also if I switch brands do I have to do it the same way I have to switch my dog? for example 1/4 new to 3/4 old one week. 1/2 and 1/2 the next week and 3/4 new to 1/4 old the 3rd week? Or do cats not get stomach upset as easily as dogs?

My cat is also having some problems with throwing up hair balls. This has started since going to all can food. I do give her petromalt 2 times a week and have tried pet grass but I have to admit I just don't understand the pet grass thing at all. As soon as she eats the grass she throws up which I now get is the concept to relieve an upset stomach but this is done indoors on the carpet. Why would anyone want their cat to throw up on the carpet??? Is there anything else I can give my cat so this hair will pass through to the liter box and not the floor? I do brush her every week or so to try to help with this problem and give her a treat once a day which is suppose to be a pet green but she is throwing up at least once a day or so. I hope you can help me Marie and thanks in advance.

Hi Kellie, Well, how about adding some SoJo cat food to the Wellness - Also, you don't have to do this slowly as she is already taking a Holistic and low grain food.
SoJo will deliver free to your door in the USA...- you can find this at many pet stores too..
I would give SoJo cat food in the am and the Wellness in the PM.. Also, always serving just a little wellness dry daily.
I don't think you need to rotate out brands too often.  ( I don't)
Here is the link for SoJO - YOUR dog will Love the GREEN bag of SoJo grain free mix - YOU just add the lightly cooked meats.
SoJo is ready to help your dogs and cats...

For the dog, yes, you can do a 50:50 mix of the old and new foods just for 2 weeks and then go 100% to the New food.
Merrick grain free ( BEFORE grain is a good one ) -
I love WELLNESS Core - ocean, too.
