Fussy Kitty.

Question
Hi my name is Chelsea. Both my husband and I were recently adopted by a cat. I say that because I am convinced they adopt YOU. Anyway, I have never really had a cat of my own and I am concerned about her behavior. Carmen, (that's her name)is a little over a year old, and she is a very sweet cat over-all. But she keeps meowing a lot and is acting like she wants something but we cannot figure out what. Also, she does not like being held or rubbed on her belly. She nips at us when we do, but not hard or in a very defensive way, but like she is irritated. We found her outside, and are still trying to figure out what she likes to eat. I read a previous article and I am going to try and get her on an eating schedule. But really I am looking for some clue as to why she is a little fussy, and jumpy around us. Can you give me some clue as to how we can get her to be more comfortable, or what these behaviors may be telling us?

Answer
Hi Chelsea,

The first thing I would do is have her checked by a vet. This would include a thorough physical exam and having labs run.

If everything is fine on that front, please visit www.holisticat.com for great information on everything from behavior to what to feed.

It could be that she is feeling out of sorts because she was used to being an outside kitty and not quite sure what is going on now - even though it is better for her to be inside with loving care. The use of Flower Essences can be helpful with emotional issues. Check out this link for information: http://www.holisticat.com/fes.html

Let me know how Carmen is doing, if you would please. :) And bless you for taking this little girl in!
