Question
QUESTION: We have both cats and dogs for pets. Sometimes a cat wants to eat the dogs can food even though the cats always have plenty of foods of their own.

Is there anything in dog food that could harm a cat, especially if the cat wants to eat a lot of the dog food? We feed Chef and Benefel can food to the inside dogs (besides dry food).

The cats get fancy feast in the can and a couple other dry foods are always down.

Thank you!

ANSWER: Hello Zebbie- It is harmful if the Dog eats too much Cat food.
Cat food has too much protein for dogs.
Now, a little bit of dog food, for the cat, won't hurt.
As for your pet's Nutrition....You may want to consider some Supplements for the cat who keeps eating the dog food.
NuVET Plus makes a great vitamin and the Feline NuVET powder is wonderful...

See here ( Holistic and not sold in stores)  Sold thru Holistic vets:
http://www.nuvet.com/81098
Tell them you want the Feline powder.
They do sell a small bottle at 20.00 and a Large bottle at 55.00

QUESTION: Why is too much protein not good for dogs? And how much protein is enough?

Answer
Cat food is not for dogs; cat food will hurt the dogs ;

Hello - To much protien will hurt the liver and kidneys and cause them to fail.
If you tell me what your dog food's listing for protien states, I can explain if it is proper for your size dog.
Please give me the breeds and the weights of each dog.
