Cat with loose stool

Question
Hi,
My cat Max is almost 15 years old.  In June he had a chin abcess which we had to have treated by the vet.  He was anesthetized and received antibiotics at home for 10 days following the surgery.  On about day 9 of the antibiotics he started having runny stool.  It is not frequent, just runny. He has never had this problem before. The runny stool has continued until the present.  We have given him plain yogurt in an attempt to help with no success.  His diet has not changed.  He eats the Special Kitty (Wal Mart brand) for Urinary Tract Health because he had crystals in his urine a few years ago.  Since we put him on the Special Kitty the urine symptoms have not come back. I am afraid to start trying new foods to cure the runny stool because I don't want the urine symptoms to come back.  What kinds of things can we do to help solidify his stool?
He is a happy, healthy cat and plays like a kitten in the evenings.  He has not acted like he felt bad since the abcess was resolved.  With his long hair getting in the stool he is making a mess of the house and we need to get this taken care of.  I would prefer not to take him back to the vet as that is where this started and he is EXTREMELY stressed by vet visits.
If you have suggestions I would appreciate it.
Thank you,
Christina

Answer
Cats with loose stools can take a Pectin mixture - look at your local pet store for this:
( or call the vet, they may carry it)
No RX needed for this.
