14 yr old cat weight loss supplements and food ;

My Zach has lost weight recently-I thought he looked good cuz he did weight 18 lbs. and now I'd say 10.
I know I should bring him to the vet, but right now I've lost my job and have no money.
The least I can do now is get him some decent food.
Can you help me?
