Cat/new owner

Question
Hello. I have had my 2 cats for a year now and unfortunately I have to hand them over to a new owner.  I'm just wondering if this is going to affect them at all...do cats actually "miss" people?  It just kills me to think that they might think that I'm "abandoning" them and I don't want them to feel like that. I don't know how or what cats think, which is why I am asking you. Thank you for your help.

Answer
Cats, like humans, have different personalities. If they were strongly attached to you, then there will be a period of adjustment, in which they will definitely miss you. However, if the people to whom they were given, are loving and attentive, they will shortly transfere their affections to the new people.
In any case, it is now done. There is little you can do except to ask the people, to whom they were given, to be extra affectionate to the cats and then pray that they will be happy.

Good luck,
Barb
