Neutering my Rat Terrier

Question
I have a Male Rat Terrier and I was wondering if he would settle down if we had him neutered.  I know the breed is naturally high-strung, but he is uncontrollable sometimes.  When anyone stops by, he goes beserk, and tries to jump/bite-not hard, but enough to get the person's attention! We have started putting him in his kennel when he is out of control, but I hate to do that all the time!  He is 8 months old and seems to be getting worse as he gets older, we do work with him and he gets plenty of attention AND exercise. When it is just me or me/my husband, he gets wild, but he will settle down after a while, but it is taking longer and longer as time goes on.  We are not planning on breeding him, so I was wondering if neutering would help with his demeanor, and maybe settle him down some.  My husband and I can't agree on this!  Thank you!

Answer
Yes neutering should help, but he should also have some behavior modification to help minimize the unwanted behaviors.  I would also recommend DAP Diffusers to help as well as adding Rescue Remedy into his water dish.

Neutering is not only beneficial for behavioral aspects but also reduces the chances of him getting prostate infections/cancer/cysts/enlargement as well as eliminates the posibility for testicular cancer.
