maine coon sick

QUESTION: my maine coon has been diag with cancer tumors under the skin, but at the same time she develped packed anal glands and is having a hard time eating and keeping anything down. Can this all be connected? I am torn about going through with surgery of just having her put to sleep. She is losing weight and is hating having to be bathed alot. Is there something I sould do to help her?

ANSWER: I don't know how this can be related since I am unclear about what kind of skin cancer you are referring to. If she is having a hard time eating it could be that the cancer is in her stomach. I need more information about her medications, what kind of cancer etc. How old is she also? That might be the deciding factor alone.

QUESTION: We are not sure the type of cancer it is, the biopsy was too small to determine. She is not on any medications and she is only 6 years old.

Were these tumors removed? Did the vet mention melanoma or removing them?
I am confused by the lack of information your vet has given you.
The only thing I can tell you is that if she isn't eating she should get a check up and ask the vet more questions about the cancer and if it can metastasize to the stomach, liver, lungs. Usually that is what happens to cause the loss of appetite etc.

If she isn't eating or having regular BMs then that could impact her anal glands since they are emptied when they have a bowel movement. If she isn't going then they won't get emptied as well.
If she doesn't eat she will get even more sick with liver problems.
So get her to the vets or call them.
