Dachshund having dark bloody stools

Question
Just started today I think and tonight she had dark red bloody stool. Also she would not eat tonight (which is very rare) and it looks like she has lost weight. What might I do for her?

Answer
Weight loss, dark and tarry or bloody stools and loss of appetite are all concerning. Any bleeding from the gi tract is cause for alarm. I would take her to see your vet ASAP. These signs are non-specific and could be associated with any number of diseases. Your vet will need to do blood tests, xrays and possibly other diagnostics to help narrow the diagnosis down.
