Urination

Question
Hi there,
My husband and I own a one year old Jack Russell Pug. She has been flawless
with going to the bathroom and has not had a single accident in the last 3 or
4 months. In the past week she has suddenly started urinating in the house, 3
times to be exact. The first time was in the morning and I just figured I didn't
let her out in time (even though this has never been a problem before) and
the other 2 times I came across the accident by the back door. What I am
wondering is this something that I should have checked out at the vet and
what possibly might be the issue?

Answer
The sudden problem with her urination could be due to a urinary tract infection, so I would suggest bringing her to your veterinarian so that they can test her.  There is also the possibility of sudden behavioral problem or physical trauma or disease causing incontinence, however given her young age and no history of trauma, a common urinary infection is quite possible.

Sincere apologies for the delay.  A family emergency set me terribly behind schedule.
