Poop in blood

Question
QUESTION: I have a 13 week old chihuahua and every now and then at night his stomach will make some extremely loud noises all night long. It's only at night though, it never happens during the day and I just figured it was because I switched his food when I bought him from what they raised him on and the noise stopped after about a week but I just got home not too long ago and I was cleaning up my room where he had an accident and I thought I saw some blood in one pile but then I saw a a little blood smear on the floor. His feces is firm and solid, it's not runny or anything and the blood was bright red.

And his stomach is making some noises again.

He just got his shots yesterday and wormed, I don't know if maybe that has something to do with it?

ANSWER: Hello Shaina:  Don't worry.  Keep an eye out for larger amounts of blood.  This can be normal when the stool passes too fast thru the intestines.  Also, it can happen when you have done a wormer treatment.

If you see larger amounts and loose poops, then please call the vet.
Very loose poop and blood can mean viral infection.  You need to make sure your baby doesn't dehydrate.

Your little chi should be on a good vitamin supplement like NuVET Plus-
Most breeders send pups home with this great vitamin.
It will cost you .25 cents per day for NuVET
( 1/2 a wafer per day) ***  Also helps with digestive problems.

QUESTION: Yeah, he got wormed yesterday as well. I really hope something isn't seriously wrong with him, I'm going to keep such a close eye on my baby.

The food I'm feeding him is, uh natural something? I'm not sure I threw the bag away. I didn't know what food to put him on so the clerk at the petstore recommended it but I'm not satisfied with it. Do you have an ideas?

As far as the wafer vitamins go, I'm going to have to look into it :) my breeder didn't give me anything except a sample of food and his vet records paper.

Answer
Many breeders, vets and groomers refer to NuVET Plus-
Your baby will love the taste of the wafer treat.
It will help... Visit the web site and see:

Next, there are some wonderful foods on the market.  The bag you through away, was it Natural Balance?
I like :
Innova ( small bites)  / puppy

Natural Balance ( puppy to adult formula)

Wellness Formual ( Holistic/ Natural)  for puppy

Also, you can treat him to a teaspoon of wet on top of the dry food.
Or a 1/2 teaspoon of wet - each day.
Make sure you buy a good HOLISTIC band of the canned/ wet food.

I can send you a taste test sample of NuVET-
you can e-mail me your address:
