Question
i recently noticed my 3 year old male cat pulling hair out of the base of his tail. he is an indoor cat so i don't think he has fleas. i checked and i didn't see any fleas on him. he doesn't act like he is itchy anywhere else. his skin where he has pulled his hair out looks normal. i am trying to self diagnose him as my husband and i are both unemployed and i cannot afford to take him to the vet. i wonder if i should give him a bath, get him a flea collar, find an essential oil remedy ect. How urgent do you think this could be? can i wait a few more weeks to take him to the vet?

Answer
Hi Jen - Yes, I think we can try some supplements... How about the following:
Please give him some benadryl - just one dosage per day: this will help is he is having an allergic reaction :
1-2 mg per pound
Example - a 10 pound cat could have 10-20 mg of Benadryl every 10 hrs.
I would just give him one dosage per day of the 20 mg.
YOU will have to get this liquid into him.??? If he will let you.

NEXT - a great and low cost skin and coat supplement is NuVET Plus - here is the link to order - It will cost only .50 cents per day.
Order right away and they will send it to you in 2-4 business days.
NOT in stores
NuVET will Blast the Yeast Bacteria and any Allergies.

http://www.nuvet.com/81098  ( Tell them code 81098) They can't sell to the public without a CAT breeder code ...OK
Or call the girls at:  1-800-474-7044 M-F 8-5 California Time zone-
Tell them Marie from All Experts and The CAT food Expert sent you.

Also, if your cat will allow a bath, Tea Tree Oil Cat / Dog shampoo is very nice and helps the skin heal.
I have a feeling your cat has yeast and allergies.
I understand if your cat will not allow you to give a bath.  YOU can try and see.

Good luck - give the supplements at least 2-3 weeks...
The Benadryl will work right away...within hours.  But only the NuVET Plus will help cure the problem.  Benadryl is just temporary relief.

Give me an update in a month.
