papillon red sopt on eyelid

My 5 year old papillon has developed a red spot like lump on his lower eyelid, which he has had for 3 days now. It does not seem to be bothering him. What could it be and should I take him to the vet?

Since it hasn't resolved in three days time it will probably get bigger, so it would be better to get him in to see the vet before it does.

Hard to say what it could be without seeing it. Anything near or in the eyes a vet should attend to right away.
