knee brace

Question
Hi -
I'm writing about my 8 year old cat who has had a problem with his left hind knee all his life.  He had surgery which shortened a ligament 8 months ago, however his knee joint continues to give him problems and he favors that leg.  Today the Vet commented that if they made knee braces for cats, he would put one on him.  My question is do they make them?  Is there anything I can do to stabilize the knee, such as wrapping it some way?  Thank you.

Answer
I don't really know Carol. You can search for knee braces for cats online if you really are interested. I am sure someone probably makes them.
The problem with wrapping is that wraps irritate, cats rip and lick them and they can cause the skin to slough off and rot.
So you have to be very careful. A brace would be made of something different so it might be more acceptable to the cat and might breath better.
This is something the vet would know more about. He may not have seen one anywhere but that doesn't mean they don't make them.
This is the closest thing I found.

Apparently since the above mentioned things are an issue most vets won't use or recommend braces so no one makes them.
