dog licking live rodent. probably a baby possum, maybe mouse.

Hi, Thank you for taking my question.
My dog got a hold of a small rodent, I think it was a very young possum, maybe a mouse. The dog didnt eat the rodent, he licked it and kept it from getting away for a good while. The dog had his nose and mouth area all over the rodent.. I am just wondering about my dogs health, could he contract something from licking all over a live rodent?

My cats eat the whole thing and they are fine. I wouldn't worry about his health, but you should wash off his face then wash your hands and the cloth with bleach for your own safety. Since I don't know where you live I have no idea what your rodents might carry.
