Yorkie Difficulty Swallowing

Question
I have a 3-yr old Yorkie and the past day or so he seems to be having trouble swallowing, and is also reverse sneezing (at least I think that's what he's doing).  When I say he seems to be having difficulty  swallowing, I mean that every once in a while he looks like he is trying to cough something up and sort of freezes.  He is eating and running around as usual.  I will take him to the vet tomorrow I'm just not sure if it might be an emergency.  The pollen has been really bad around here so I'm not sure if that might be a contributing factor.  I do walk him with a harness although he pulls really hard on the leash so I am also thinking collapsing trachea?

Answer
He is a bit too young to be getting a collapsing trachea. He could just have a sore throat, a grass awn stuck in his tonsil or tonsillitis itself. If it is the latter he might need them removed.

It is not an emergency and can wait until you see the vet. However, having said that, watch his color. If his throat is swelling he may need to see a vet tonight. You can give him a HALF of a BABY aspirin for tonight to help him sleep better.
