My dogs in heat!

Question
I have a one year old (turned one today)Chesapeake Bay Retriever.  She has just gone into heat...is it too late to get her fixed?  How long will she be in heat?

Answer
Hi Tami!

It's anywhere from 6-21 days.Female dogs usually stay in heat for 3 weeks.  The first week going into heat, the second "in" heat, and the third is going out of heat. After that 3 weeks is over, it is safe for your dog to get spayed.
The best time to have them spayed is one week after she is "out of" heat.
There are little underwear/diaper things to put on her. They tie at the sides and you put pads in them.I think that they are in heat 2X a year.

I hope this is helpful! Good luck and please keep me posted! Sending wagging tails your way!
