Excessive Panting

Question
On our way home from our daily walk, my 4yr old lab started panting and tried to eat grass. Now that we are home he is panting and licking the floor and furniture plus his front paws. He drank water and throw it up. His routine has not changed.

Answer
I think this is something that a vet should see if he isn't better in the morning. He may have gotten overheated or was walking on a full stomach. Unless he got into some grass that was sprayed with something then that is the only reason I could see that he would act this way.

If he is still acting off in the morning you need to call your vet. I am not a vet and can only give you advice in that manner.

If he is current on his vaccinations and heartworm prevention then it is probably just a bit of overheating. If he is not on heartworm medicine then you need to get him tested right away for that. I would also be concerned about his heart even though he is only 4.

So as I said, call your vet asap in the morning if he isn't back to normal.
