Female Dog in Heat?

Question
We just picked up a female dog from a shelter.  She is showing no signs of bleeding but she is trying to "seduce" our neutered male (who has no interest).  She keeps going around him with her tail up and getting into position with her but stuck up in the air.  Could she be in heat??  We've never had a female dog before, only males.

Answer
Hi Susannah!Yes,this is a sign of heat.Your male is probably not interested in her because he is neutered. She will be unable to breed because he is neutered. This heat period will last for approximately three weeks. The females will come in heat twice a year-autumn and spring. If this does last for longer than three weeks,it will mean she is not in heat.If this happeneds, you should take her to the vet to get checked out.I hope this information helps! Please keep me posted!  Nicole.D.
