Question
-thanks so much for your quick response-on one of the sites it said not to use frontline plus on dogs less than 11 lbs.  he is probably about 10 lbs.  also very scared of thunder- hyperventilating, shaking, quivering, can't seem to calm him.  right now we are having a thunderstorm so I thought I would ask you-any suggestions?  he is sitting on my lap doing all the above as I write this.  thanks again,

Question -
I have just adopted a rescue dog.  A minpin we call Dash.  Can I use frontline plus on him? He is about 10 lbs.  The vet charges alot more than an online site for this product and heartguard.  Is it safe to order online?  The site I am referring to is petshed, the prices are so much better than others. Do I need a prescription for it?
thanks in advance.

Hi Rhonna! Congrats on your new addition. Frontline Plus would absolutely be the best for him.  Just be sure to get the right one for his weight.  I would think that it would be fine to order this online, as I have ordered things in the past online like this as well and never have had a problem.  The prices are a lot better, not because something is wrong with the product, but that it's the wholesale cost, without the price increase for the profit that you will find at the vet's office, which definatley works!
This link is to Petshed, for Frontline Plus Small Dog 1-22lbs.  There is no prescription needed.

I hope this has been helpful and give Mr. Dash some great big WELCOME HOME kisses for me!

Answer
Hello!  Poor Dash!  If his fear of thunderstorms is really bad, your veterinarian can prescribe a slight sedative for during thunderstorms.  My in-laws have a chocolate lab who literally goes crazy when a thunerstorm is in process and they need to do this.  The medication is called Acepromazine.
As for his weight with Frontline Plus.  It wouldn't hurt to use the 11-22 lbs version of Frontline on him, but if you don't feel comfortable doing that, you can use the cat form of Frontline.  It's the same exact thing, just made for smaller pets.  I used this on my Shih Tzu, Charlie when he was younger, as he was only 5 lbs!  Now he is 12lbs and meets the cut for the puppy Frontline.  It's completely up to you, as I have seen both being used on a dog of Dash's weight.  In my personal opinion, I would probably use the cat frontline.
I hope this has been helfpul!
