Baytril and blindness

Question
My cat (4 y.o. neutered male shorthair domestic, 15 lbs)was recently given Baytril at a dose of 1/4 tablet, 2 times a day (7/3). After about 3 days, I noticed his pupils were very large and also he was acting different (cautious around previously familiar objacts, nearly colliding with furniture). I called the vet and took him in to be examined (7/7). The vet said he wasn't blind (pupil reacts to light, followed finger movement) and discontinued the Baytril medication. As of this morning (7/8), my cat's pupils were still very large, but still seemed to react to light and movement.  So my question(s) are....1) Once the Baytril is metabolized/ excreted from the cats system(s)will the problem with his eyes diminish and how long might this take or 2) is it a matter of exposure that the process of becoming blind is irreversible? 3) Could there be permanent damage?

Answer
You have a problem, it DOES sound like your cat had a rxn to the baytril. It is KNOWN to cause blindness in cats.

some cats DO get their site back, but it can take a LONG time. many do not regain their site< BUT do well. So dont give up on your baby.

Get a second opinion from another vet.
