cats and flower beds

Question
Our neighbor has a cat that insists on using my flowerbeds and garden as a depository.  This year it actually dug up the bulbs in the flowerbed.  I have tried several of the old faithfuls, spraying it with water, mothballs, cayenne pepper, etc.  but nothing seems to deter it.  Is there anything you can suggest?

Answer
Hi Penny!  Unfortunately, where there is soil...there is a cat!  The only thing I can suggest that would be beneficial is talking to the neighbor and asking her to either keep her cat indoors or let the cat out with a leash.  There are many products out on the market today that claim to keep cats away...unfortunately...they don't work.
I wish I could be of more help, but the neighbor is really going to need to respect your property and what her cat is doing to it.
Best of luck and I hope everything works out to your honor.
