Question
I JUST NOTICED ON MY AMERICAN PITBULL HE HAS A SORE ON THE LOWER PART OF HIS BACK CLOSE TO HIS TAIL IT IS REDISH,PINK COLOR AND OOZING SOMETHING AND SMELLS VERY BAD LIKE ROTTEN DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS COULD BE

Answer
Hi Shannon!

It sounds like your dog has an infection.

Clean the area with warm (not hot) water and mild soap and apply an antibiotic ointment, such as Neosporin, Betadine, etc. Try to keep the dog from licking it off.
It's always good to apply the medication and take the dog outside for a long walk. This will give the medication a chance to work. If it can stay on for 15-20 minutes that would be great.

Wash the area and apply the ointment twice a day.
If it doesn't begin to scab over and look as though it's healing in a couple of days, take the dog to see the vet.

I hope this has been helpful and I wish you the best of luck! Please keep me posted and give that Pit millions of kisses for me!Sending wagging tails your way!
