Question
Hi Marie,
I have a 6 month old male fawn and white french bulldog. He is great except for the annoying skin issues. He has had yeast in his ear, hot spot on his neck both have been treated with antibiotics and a regimen of Malacetic Ultra once a week to keep ears clean, Mal-A-Ket wipes for his facial skin folds as needed and Mal-A-Ket shampoo monthly . We give him a Nu-Vet Plus vitamin each morning. He has a spoonful of plain lo-fat yogurt every morning. He eats Enova dry puppy food twice daily. He eats greenbeans and carrots as treats with occasional apples. He has peanutbutter (just a little) about 3 times a week as a treat. He has few store bought treats but when he does they are organic and grain free. So......what am I doing wrong ? ?  He has spots on his belly near his penis often. I treat with Mal-A-Ket wipes and bacitracin and eventually they may go away ! ! He has a spot between his paw that I am treating the same way. He has a potential spot that could turn into a hot spot just below his right ear so I am watching that with the wipes and bacitracin. I will spray him with white vinegar and water solution of these spots maybe twice a week or more often when I see these outbreaks. Most disturbing now is the red, raw skin folds. I have been using the wipes, but if I don't his face bothers him. ALSO, he rubs his little butt across the carpet after he comes in from eliminating outside. I use bacitracin around his anus which seems to help somewhat. I don't know what else to do for these skin issues. I feel that I am keeping a handle on them but it is constant and I wonder if the SoJo complete diet might be something I can try. I called for a sample. I has the turkey already in it and I can supplement with fresh veggies that he loves anyway! Do you think that would solve his skin issues? I have put him only on ENOVA since we got him at 10 weeks. That is supposed to be one o the best foods and is also grain free.  He is the greatest little guy but I feel bad that his face and butt and belly are itchy, sore and red.

Hi Robin and little Frenchie....  Sounds like you are doing a great job.
I would get the BIG GUNS out for probiotics.  ( skip the yogurt for now)

LET's get him onto 1 billion of Acidophalus per day - break the pill into 1/2s ....give 1/2 in the am and 1/2 in the pm for 1 month.  Then, go to 1/2 per day for 2 more months.
MUST be pure Acidophalus only - 1 billion CFUs - you can find this at Walmart, Target or even the grocery store.
Keep up with the NuVET - give him 1 1/2 dosages per day rather than the 1 wafer or teaspoon per day:  If you need more NuVET order here

NEXT - please ask the NuVET folks to send you the HOT spot tree tree oil spray.  Wonderful to use on his red or swollen/itchy areas.  As far as the anal area- wipe with an unscented baby wipe and then apply BAG BALM each day - YOU can find Bag Balm at most stores in the baby department.

For the folds - just use an unscented baby wipe - after the area is dry place some "Gold Bond" powder on a q-tip and push into the folds.  You can also do this with a q-tip and Pure corn starch - keeps the area dry and free from yeast.

As far as the food - Buy the Innova EVO-  this is the grain free -  Mix the regular Innova with the EVO at a 50:50 mix for 3 -4 months - then go 100% to the EVO only.
The SoJo is good ( green bag )only.   I would rather see you stick to the EVO and Innova MIX.

Call NuVET for the Hot spot tree tree spray : VERY healing.
They also have a TEA tree oil shampoo - you may want to get that , too.
