Question
Hello, we have a 6-8 yr old female beagle mix that we adopted from a shelter last July.  She came to us with bad skin allergy issues and a hx of being on numerous antibiotics and treatments for it, none really working.  She has also been on prednisone several times.  A few months ago we were pretty successful in calming down the skin issues with ketaconazole and prednisone, but around that time she also began sneezing and reverse sneezing.  The discharge ranges from clear to slightly yellowish.  The vet put her on Baytril which seemed to help, but the symptoms returned. She was also on prednisone at the time as well.  She is now on doxycyclene and chlorpheniramine which seems to have helped some.  For food she is on natural balance, potato and duck.  I have been giving her fish oil and using some ocean nasal spray occas.  Do you have any other ideas?  Thanks!

Beagle on Baytril ;  Beagle feeding and allergies:
Let me know if you tried the NuVET and Vitamin C,  Plus Probios?

Hi Laurie-  YOU are doing a wonderful job for this little adopted beagle mix!  Thanks for taking in a Shelter pet!!!  I am sure she had a tough life before she was rescued and her immune system is shot!  Let's try to re-build the immune system with a few supplements.
LOOKS like she is on a very good food.

1.  Add some ESTER C to he program - hide in a pill pocket.  - give 500 mg of ESTER C per day long term - must be ESTER C as it's easy on the Belly

2. NuVET Wafer supplement - MOST of the pet clients take 1 or 2 NuVET wafers per day - I would like to see this girl take 1 1/2 NuVET wafers per day --- She needs an x-tra boost.
NuVET is an allergy blaster and also heals the skin --- Takes away all the crazy shedding too.
NuVet will help to fight off the allergens that are hitting her system .
I bet it's mostly environmental ---
Plus, too many antibiotics and steroids can weaken the immune system too.
They help but also hurt.
go here for the NuVET-   NOT sold in stores:
http://www.nuvet.com/81098   ( Tell them Pet Nurse Marie sent you)
If you go on auto ship every 45 days or every 90 days - they Give you 15% off each order.
Use referral code 81098 /
YOU can call 1-800-474-7044  ( They give a 60 day money back guarantee and even a TASTE guarantee... )  YOU can take this with ANYTHING the vet gives you.. NuVET is not a drug ... all natural ...

3. At the Pet Store - look for a product called BEN-BAC or PROBIOS - they are probiotics - it will help the itches related to excessive YEAST...   Give this powder for 2-3 months in her food daily - follow the instructions on the product.
There is no taste in the Ben-Bac or Probios..
