how to get rid of fleas

i was wondering if there is a home remedy that works on how to get rid of fleas effectively? I've tried apple vinegar in the water (that didn't work) i tried dawn dish soap (that didn't work) i tried the garlic trick (that didn't work).

yes and they are only effective if you do all at once. so here goes ....
place salt across all carpets and into furnishings and crevices , leave over night then hoover up after 18 hours.
bathe doggy in lavender and garlic wash (instructions to make own at bottom of post)
mix twenty drops of tea tree oil in 1 litre water, add 20 drops lavender oil and spray house every three days for a week.
Flea shampoo for dogs  (not cats)
take a soap free shampoo or a baby shampoo then add 20 drops tea tree and lavender oil , 20 drops of coriander a
and either two cloves garlic crushed or garlic oil that you have prepared earlier. leave to infuse for at least 3 days then bathe doggy in this at this rate:
small to medium dogs 40 ml shampoo mix into 1 litre warm water mix then wet doggy well and shampoo, leave on for 4 mins then rinse. larger dogs rate is 10 ml more per kg body weight.

Add this to food daily
brewers yeast at 1 tsp per kg body weight.
all must be done simultaneously for an effective route away from the scourge of fleas.

Once eradicated then simply bathe doggy once per week during flea season with above and always add brewers yeast to food as a natural preventative for the little blighters.
