Question
Hi Jerry,
I was wondering if you knew what to do with my situation. I will be traveling
to england in march and plan on buying a springer spaniel puppy (young as
possible...2 months) I will be traveling back to Bogota, Colombia where i am
currently living with the puppy and will be going through transit in Miami, FL.
What do I need to do to be able to leave the U.K. and enter the U.S. and
Colombia. Will the puppy be alright to travel at this time if I can take her with
me in the cabin?
Thanks for your help,
Krysia

Answer
Dear Krysia
Coming into USA should be no problem.  The pup will probably be too
young for a rabies vaccination so that is no problem in USA
And, you should be able to exit UK with the dog as excess baggage.
In the cabin, I do not know!!  You will need to get that info from
the airline you travel on.  You might want to consider someone such
as Lufthansa from London via the continent to Miami.  You might have
a better chance of in the cabin with Luft or KLM
Columbia might be another situation.  Possible they will require a
rabies vac.  You need to check with Columbian authorities while you
are still there.  You just might be better off by letting the dog
reach 3 or 4 mos old in UK, get a rabies vac there, and maybe need to
wait 30 days, then go get him/her and finish your journey.
Suggest you contact: Jack Russo at Bobbi's World in Ft Lauderdale.
He is MUCH more informed about South America, etc than anyone else.
check out:  www.bobbisworldkennels.com   He will know much more about
Columbia than myself.    jrusso2384@aol.com
