Question
hi there

hope  you can advise me on the following dilemma

A few days ago whilst driving on us Miami i rescued a small dog
that had been thrown from a car.my intention is to eventually bring the dog to live in the UK with me, i am in the very fortunate position that money is not a problem, and i will be traveling to Greece in a couple of weeks, with that information i would be so grateful if you could advise me of the best procedure should employ in order to meet all the requirements and give the dog the least trauma on her journey. please advise ASAP. kind regards Maria

Answer
For entry requirements to UK, refer to DEFRA.  There is a link from p.4 of my website.
To Greece, easier, but will take at least 30 days.
For Greece, and most of EU, will need: microchip   rabies vac at least 30 days old and less
than 1 yr.  APHIS 7001 international health cert issued within 10 days of travel  and EU form 998
English-Greek which records microchip and rabies info, and also endorsed by usda
UK will require blood lab tests. Not sure if it would be best to do here in USA or wait until
you get to Greece.
UK will require things done in following order: microchip  rabies vac then blood draw.
Then, entry into UK would be 180 days after blood draw.  You can also choose quarantine in UK
for up to 6 mos.  DEFRA will better answer all this
