Moving 2 cats (sisters) from Bolivia, SA to Toronto, Canada

Question
Hello -
I am moving in January or February 2011 from Cochabamba, Bolivia to Toronto, Canada. I have two cats, 3 years old, sisters and I want to bring them with me. They are indoor cats and I have had them since they were kittens. They are very friendly with me and my husband, but are quite nervous with outside sounds, noises and when guests visit.

I have been researching about moving them and I'm quite nervous. I know that because of our location, we need to take three flights. I'm worried about the best way to organize this - one kennel or two? In cabin or baggage check? (I have to do baggage check for the international part into Miami, but I could do carry on from Miami to Toronto?) To sedate or not? What about weather restrictions? Jan/Feb is hot in Bolivia but cold in Canada.

Also, they have only been outside our apartment twice for moves from one apartment to another, 15 minutes in the car max. They are not used to it at all.

Please give me some suggestions, the best airlines, best ideas...I'm stressing already!!

Thanks
p.s. I'm moving first and my husband after, so I'll be alone on the trip.

Answer
To enter Canada, you will need a health cert issued within 10 days of travel, and a valid rabies
vac.  Whether they are indoor or outdoor cats makes NO difference.  Friendly or not, makes no
difference.  Both will need separate kennels.  In cabin, NEVER a good idea.  Bring as excess
baggage if possible.  Check with passenger reservation people of the airline(s) involved
NO sedation.  Temp restrictions? Maybe... Need to check with airline.
You should visit: www.ipata.com    Contact pet shippers in Canada for up to date info, etc
Same requirements to enter USA as CA
