Carry On

Question
I would like to take my dog on a trip with me. But I would like to
put her in a bag as a carry on baggage. She is a 12LB.
maltese,....can she be with me on a plane as long as she is in a
bag?.

Check with the airline, each one has different policies.  Try to find one that says yes.  Dogs don't take heat very well, and cargo holds get too hot this time of year.  The airline may insist on a plastic carrier.  

A dog that has not been crated since it was little, make take some work.  Buy one now, and let the dog start getting used to it.  Ones just big enough for her won't cost much.  You don't need to shut it in the crate.  Start out just putting its toys and treats in the crate.  Praise it for going in.  If you have been able to trust it with any bedding, put that in the crate.  Feed it in the crate.  This is also an easy way to maintain order at feeding time for more than one dog.  Dogs love an enclosed place to sleep.  The crate with the door open could become a favorite napping place.
