Ok i just got an 55 gal. tank and i had an 45 gal tank so i just change every thing over to the 55 gal. but i forget i didnt have any more salt. In order for my pumps and stuff to work i just added freash water now my level are to low!!! and i dont have any time to go get the salt so will my fish die (i have 2 Ocellaris Clowns and 1 Blue Devil Damselfish) and can i use alittle of salt that you put on food?

Hi Jrakkar,

Do not use processed table salt in your fish tank. It is a different chemical compound than sea salt. Your fish will probably be okay with low levels of salinity. What is your hydrometer reading? Please measure it and get back to me right away. Thanks, Gerry.

Answer
VERY COOL. RIGHT WHERE THEY IT SHOULD BE - A LITTLE LIGHT BUT FINE, AND BETTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL. BY THE WAY, MAKE SURE YOU GO BY ACCLAIMATION INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY FOR BEST CHANCE OF SURVIVAL. SOME FISH NEED SEVERAL HOURS, SOME NEED MUCH LESS BUT ALL SHOULD BE DRIP ACCLAIMATED TO NEW WATER CODITIONS. GOOD LUCK, GERRY.
P. S. INTRODUCING YOUR FISH INTO THE TANK TOWARDS THE END OF THE DAY WHEN YOU CAN PUT THEM IN "LIGHTS OUT" AND THEY JUST APPEAR IN THE MORNING SOMETIMES WILL PRODUCE BETTER ACCEPTANCE BY THE FISH IN YOUR TANK.
