cloudy saltwater tank

Question
Hello-

I have a 70 gal saltwater tank.  It's established as it's about 3 yrs old.  I have a wet/dry filter no live rock, and only a few fish, 2 perculas and 2 damsels.  No inverts.  The tank was crystal clear until I added some new sand about 3 months ago.  The sand was dry sand from a bag and I rinsed it thoroughly.  I've checked the water quality and all, nitrites, nitrates, PH, salinity, temp, are all within range. I have a protein skimmer, UV filter, I've put activated carbon in the sump, and changed the filter pads, and done another water change.  Nothing has helped.
If I look up from the ground into the tank I can see the white 'particles' floating around.  Oh - and it's not air bubbles, I've checked that too.
Help!

Answer
Hello Brandy,

Can you please tell me more about the type of sand you used?  Where did you get it? Is it reef safe sand, or silica sand?

And can you please post eh water peramters for teh tests you indicated...  Although they maybe 'inline' there maybe patterns that are eitehr apparent within those results or within results i have gotten in the past from others..s.

Discussing issues like this with nmany folks is improtant so you can hear the trials and tirbulations of other reefers, and hopefully avoid having to repeat things that others may have tried and didnt work.
