Question
Hi, I'm making a chiller out of an old compact fridge. I was going to use flexible copper tube because it would be easy to shape into a coil. My question is, is it safe to do this with copper? Should I use stainless or plastic?

Answer
deffinatly do not use copper, it will lech into the water and kill all your inverts. it will also render your tank useless for keeping marine fish.

stainless steel is also knows to have problems as if there is the slightest bit of rust (trust me salt water can rust stainless steel) it will then contaminate your water.

plastic seems to be the best option but also suffers at the hands of salt water, it tends to go very brittle over time so may need replacing at regular intervals.

also you have to take some piccs and blog your progress with this project, i would be really interested to see how it pans out.
