My water turned green first I got this red stuff on the glass them my water turned green i turned off the light for a day it cleared a little but its turning green again what can i do

Hello Robin,

I would need more information to hopefully figure out what exactly it is, but, from the little information you gave, and with the clue that you got 'some' success with turning your lights off, i would suggest it is an algae or cyanno type of problem.

I would suggest you turn your lights off for two to three days in a row.

IF the tank is near a window or if it gets light from outside, then maybe have to cover the tank to limit the light the comes in, (you dont need to cover it if it is not getting direct sunlight)

IF after two days, most of it is gone, great, go one more day.

If after three days, you still have some left, you should get some 'red slime' remover or other product and follow the directions.

(do this right after the 'lights out' to kick it, the algae, while it's down)
