Question
QUESTION: I have 2 maroon clowns and i bought a saddle anemone for it about 2-3 weeks ago but they still have not gone in it. also my anemone climbed up my glass and is touching my heater anything to worry about.baby clowns about a inch- too 1 1/2 inches.about a 6in. circle anemone.

ANSWER: Hi Steve:  Clown fish are not born immune to anemone toxin they have to build up their immunity by getting stung by the anemone.  It should not eat them because they do not become paralyzed like other fish do.  Eventually they will bond.  Can you move the heater closer to the substrate???? warm water rises and you do not want a cold bottom on your reef... dave

QUESTION: what do u mean substrate? I have only had my tank for about 9 months.how do u get the bottem warmer?

Answer
Hi Steven: Substrate is your sand or rocks... if your heater is near the surface and you do not have good water movement... then the top layer of the water in your tank will be warm... and the bottom will remain cooler... because warm water rises to the surface.... You can make sure that your tank is warm if you move the heater closer to the substrate.... dave
