Calcium =440
Alk =11.1

Answer
Hello Aaron,

I am sure your Salinity is not 1.26

Please tell me it isnt!!!  (Maybe 1.026??)  heheheh

The test results dont truly indicate what I think is going on...

When you scraped off the algae, and the way you describe it it sounds like a ALOT of algae, chances are you are disturbing a lot of orgaincs/nutrients which would show up in NITRATE

Did you test the water after you scraped or after the fish died???

By stirring things up in a tank you are stirring up the poop and bad stuff that has been lying dormant and maybe even covered up with new sand and stuff...

Some people call this or refer to this as a MINI CYCLE.. but MINI is subjective...  and depending on the size of the tank, a small amount of ammonia could be fatal...

Please confirm the salinity number and keep me posted...

BTW: I have a new forum at www.thelittleocean.com

Please log in over there and meet more reefers from here and be able to chat and commjnicate with them along with me...

Good luck and i hope to see you at the www.thelittleocean.com
