QuestionI am wanting to know what filtration you reccomend? Here is what I have.
125 gallon tank that drains to my basement
I have a Dolphin Ampmaster 3000 pump that is rated at 10-20 gpm at 14' which is the height the tank is above my pump.
I have a terminator 2 protein skimmer. I have a Bio Rocker filter but do not like it because of the salt spary over everything plus it hangs up on occasion. I was thinking of an inline filter? Also where can i get a sump that has a fitting on the bottom to feed my dolphin pump? All sump I see you have to use a submersible pump. What do most people use that have a pump like mine?
I plan on having fish and live rock.
I am planning on a DSB with plenum. Is this fine or do you not reccomend a plenum?
I was also going to use a R/O system with float valve in the sump to top of my water daily. What system do you reccomend?
I am planning on this to be my last time setting everything up so I want it to be right. My price range is between a medium price and unlimited. I do not want something cheap just to get me by, I want it to last and to work well for my system.
Thanks for your help.
Answer
David,
The bio rocker is known for the salt spray. I do not like them either.
I would try Doctors Foster and Smith for the sump with bottom fitting. They have a huge selection and good price points on their products. I do not know much about the dolphin pump. I will try to find out a bit more infomation on this one.
I do not think you need a plenum for your system.
Try the Kent Marine
-Full size TFC membrane DELUXE RO UNITS
-Maxxima Full Size RO/DI Filters with Hi-S Membrane
I think this system is around 250 plus 50 for the float. I have been using this product for two years. RO water makes a great source for water to be used to mix with your marine salt. RO water is also great for topping-off both marine and freshwater tanks to compensate for evaporation losses. I have a couple of sensitive species in my 75. They are doing great with that R/O unit. What type of inline where you looking at ? I have a salt water aquarium meeting at the the Museum of science on Wed. I am going to ask about your dolphin pump.
Good luck
Todd
