Question
Dear David,
I have a hermit crab and I just got it.
What is shell water?
Should I remove them to another tank when he it molting or out grew his old shell?
Samuel

Answer
Hi Samual:  Shell water is just that... it is water that the hermit crab stores in its shell... Land hermit crabs need to find water in their natural environment in order to survive.... so they fill their shells up with water and use it as they need to keep their gills moist.  This helps them live in dry places.  I would keep him in the tank where he is molting and leave the old shell in there too.... make sure he has a place where he can get into the water if he wants to..... dave
